DFAA teaches lessons to children, teens, and adults! Students may enroll in lessons beginning at the age of 4.
For children under 4, we highly recommend checking out our friends at Music Together of Decatur! MT offers group lessons to babies and toddlers and also operates out of FBCD.
-
Yes! Students have multiple opportunities throughout the semester to perform in studio classes (monthly) as well as regular public recitals. We offer two recital dates per semester, and students may select the date that works best for their schedule.
Our camps and intensives offer additional performance opportunities, and we’re always on the lookout for opportunities for our students to perform with the community! In the past, we’ve collaborated with organizations like the Decatur Civic Chorus and Christmas on Clairemont to provide students with opportunities to perform.
And of course, your instructor will help you find local opportunities as well - from competitions and auditions to ensembles and shows!
-
Studio Classes occur once a month and offer students the chance to practice performance in front of their DFAA cohort and instructors. They’re an excellent way for students to build confidence and performance skills. They’re designed to be casual, encouraging, and inspirational for students of all experience levels. Students are encouraged to bring their works-in-progress to practice performing in front of the group and to attend even if they aren’t performing. We’ll also have discussions about different music skills.
-
Tuition is averaged over the full academic year to provide a predictable, all-inclusive flat monthly rate. Some months may have more or fewer lessons due to holidays, but the total number of lessons reflected in tuition (36) occur throughout the year. Students who begin mid-year will have their rates adjusted accordingly. Scheduled breaks are factored into the total; see our calendar for specific dates.
Tuition must be paid online through QuickBooks.

A student may schedule a maximum of two make-up lessons per semester. DFAA requires students to give a minimum of 24 hours’ notice if they are unable to attend a lesson (except in cases of emergency/illness). If a student misses a lesson without appropriate notice, it cannot be made up.
If a lesson is canceled by your instructor or because of inclement weather, a make-up will be offered, and it will not count toward your two make-ups/semester limit.
