CONVERSATIONS

Conversations at First Baptist Church Decatur has been pleased to partner with the Georgia Center for the Book and others in the Decatur community to host public dialogues in our community at the intersection of faith, purpose, and values. Enjoy listening to some of our previous presentations for the first time or to revisit an event you attended.


Decatur Farmers Market

The Decatur Farmers Market is open for the season at FBCD. Come visit the market on the front lawn on Wednesdays between 3 and 6 p.m. during the winter season. 4-7 p.m. during day light saving time. Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 1 p..m. Under the trees to the left of the front lawn.

Community Farmers Markets is a non-profit organization that operates the East Atlanta Village, Grant Park, and Decatur Farmers Markets. Our goal is to increase access to local, organic, handmade food, foster farmers markets as places that bring communities together, and support local farmers. Community Farmers Markets strives to make good food affordable for food insecure families by doubling food assistance benefits in partnership with Wholesome Wave Georgia.


AJC Decatur Book Festival

Every Labor Day weekend, book lovers from all over the country converge on Decatur for a weekend of listening to authors, buying books, and wandering through exhibits. First Baptist Decatur is a major venue for the festival. Author events are held in the Sanctuary and in Carreker Hall. In the summer as the festival approaches, check the schedule of events here.

We love weddings!  We are happy to work with you to ensure your ceremony is a sacred moment that can be appreciated by you and your guests for years to come.

Music and Movement Classes in Decatur for Babies, Toddlers, Preschoolers, and the grown-ups who love them!™ So Much More than Mommy and Me!

Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood music and movement program for children from birth through age 5 . . . and the grownups who love them. The classes offered through Music Together of Decatur at FBCD, are a part of the Decatur Fine Arts Academy. To learn more go here.


Fall Festival

On the Wednesday closest to Halloween each year, First Baptist Decatur sponsors a free Fall Festival on our campus for everyone in Decatur. Activities vary from year to year, but there is always lots of candy.


Dinner and a Show

A most amazing ooh la la Dinner and a Show happens in Carreker Hall. The show features a variety of talent— from the FBCD church family and the broader Decatur and Atlanta community. Doggie Day

Every fall the disAbility Link sponsors Doggie Day on the front lawn of First Baptist Church to celebrate the contributions of canine assistants.


Decatur Egg Hunt

On the Saturday before Palm Sunday First Baptist hosts the Decatur Business Association’s Easter Egg Hunt on our front lawn.


July 4th Pied Piper Parade

At 5:30 p.m. on July 4, families and groups line up in the First Baptist parking lot for the Pied Piper Parade. The parade begins at 6 and ends up at the Community Bandstand on the Square. After a concert, the fireworks display begins at dark. More information here.


THE YARD SALE

The Yard Sale, a Decatur tradition, has been held on the front lawn. The sale helps fund the many mission projects of the church and provides scholarships to First School families, Camp participants and youth on an as-needed basis. Thank you for supporting the Yard Sale through the years — since 1995! There is no yard sale planned for 2017.
