About a year ago, I was in a not so great place mentally. I was struggling with a lot of things that had been building up for a long time, and I was doing a fantastic job pretending like everything was fine; nothing was wrong; business as usual.

Have you ever felt like you didn’t belong anywhere? It is human nature to seek out a feeling of belonging and to try to find people like you. People like to know that they aren’t alone in the world, that they are part of a group who supports them, even if that group exists outside of their families, neighbors or coworkers, and they search far and wide to find that support.

One of the things I’m most thankful for is the professional musicians who take the words we so desperately cling to, feel, think – and turn them into beautiful, musical prayers.
