John 14:25-27

25 “I have said these things to you while I am still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.

The Lord is near to the broken-hearted, and saves the crushed in spirit.

Over 200 years ago the great theologian and preacher, John Wesley, came up with a set of 22 questions that he would ask himself at the end of each day in his devotions. These questions are worth us pondering today.

Jesus also comes to us, calling us to love one another, to care for God’s beloved children. See his abundant way of life, move beyond your failure, and love other people. To love Jesus is to love others, the sheep of his flock, in the way Jesus loves them. Listen. Can you hear him say to you, “Do you love me? Then care for my flock.”

Whatever you need in the moment, your spiritual soundtrack of old hymns is there to fill your mind and your heart. Go ahead and sing out loud – God loves a cheerful singer!
