To Bind Up a Nation’s Wounds

 
 
 

Considering all the crazy dynamics of today's world, we are still a far cry from the deep tragedy following the Civil War. Nevertheless, trends of concern continue to emerge now with clear echoes of that former time. 

Then, the loss, death, destruction, bitterness and broad uncertainties had left the nation, both north and south, with a new necessity. Lincoln's words in his Second Inaugural still echo through time: 

With malice toward none, with charity for all, with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in, to bind up the nation's wounds.

May it be so for us.
