A Letter from Mark Green

Dear Beloved Members of FBC Decatur,

You truly know how to make someone feel cherished.

This past Sunday marked my last official day as one of your pastors at First Baptist Church of Decatur, where I have happily served for over four and a half years. You made the day incredibly special for Cindy and me, and I am genuinely overwhelmed with gratitude.

Thank you for all the expressions of love and well wishes you shared with us. The signed framed print of “Last Song,” the basket of bread-making items, the wonderful meal with beautifully decorated tables, the heartfelt litany shared during both services, the singing of "A Future and Hope" by our choir, and the more than generous love gift, along with many personal expressions of kindness and support, have all touched our hearts deeply. I cannot thank you enough for your kindness, love, support, prayers, and friendship.

Serving this church at the close of my ministry career has been a true gift. God has indeed saved the best for last. I thank God every day for bringing us here. It has been my joy, delight, and honor to serve alongside you, my amazing fellow pastors, and the incredible support staff of this wonderful church. It may be hard to believe, but I have cherished every moment of it.

From the very beginning, we have felt loved.

The good news is that Cindy and I will return to worship services this fall as enthusiastic and supportive “regular” members of this church. We look forward to many more years of shared ministry together with all of you.

We humbly thank you once again for all your expressions of love and support, and for making our service and last day so memorable.

You are loved,

Mark
