Welcome to First Camp!
First Camp is an after-school and summer program at First Baptist Church of Decatur.
For over thirty years we have been committed to furnishing quality care for elementary aged children in the Decatur area. Our goal is to provide the students in our care with a safe, healthy, and educational environment.
First Camp is licensed by Bright from the Start, an agency of the State of Georgia. First Camp is divided into two programs, “First Camp After-School” during the school year and “First Camp Summer” during the summer months.
About First Camp After-School
First Camp After-School Program serves the children of the Decatur City Schools. We drive vans to these schools and pick up students in kindergarten through 5th grade and bring them back to the Camp. Once there, students are given a nutritious snack, have large muscle play time, arts and crafts, science experiments, and homework time. There are options for a yoga class and music lessons at an additional cost.
Registration is for the complete semester, Fall and Spring. Families have the option of sending their child 2-5 days to after-school camp. First Camp also holds full-day camps with field trips during the Decatur City break weeks.
About First Camp Summer
The First Camp Summer program starts the week after Decatur City Schools complete their year and ends the week before Decatur City Schools resumes. It is open to children who have COMPLETED Kindergarten through 5th grade. We do not take any younger children or older.
Each week students will be going on a field trip. Field trips in the past included the College Football Hall of Fame, the Georgia Aquarium, Zoo Atlanta, and SkyZone.
Most weeks registration is for full-day camp, 4-5 days out of the week (four days if the child will not be attending the field trip that week).
Most Thursdays this summer, there will be a free Art Class with Ms. Sylvia!!
Both First Camp After-School and Summer programs are located in the Activities Building (behind the Education Building/near ball field) of First Baptist Decatur.
It is located in the back of the church facilities next to the baseball field. Areas available to both programs are the baseball field, a large playground, an inside gym, a large games room, craft room, kitchen area, and several other classrooms. Because of the multiple play areas available, age groups as well as different activities can be separated ensuring the safety of all campers.
