Week One (6/2-6/6) – Welcome to Summer

This week features a couple of small field trips to get everyone in to the groove of summer — one to the Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University (Wed, 6/4) and one to the Yellow River Game Ranch (Fri, 6/6).

Week Two (6/9-6/13) – VBS and Spirit Week

Campers will spend the morning participating in FBC Decatur’s Children’s Ministry presentation of Vacation Bible School (theme TBA) and will transition to camp-wide team competitions in the afternoon! Activities in the morning are to be determined, but always include storytelling, music, crafts, and physical activity. Activities in the afternoon will range from water balloon relays to trivia and will play to the strengths of all Campers. The winning team gets a special prize on Friday!

Week Three (6/16-6/20) – Six Flags

A crowd favorite! We’ll be visiting Six Flags for an all day trip on Friday, with daredevils staying until park close at 10p. (NOTE: This plan will depend on the park schedule which was not the same in 2013 – we will update as we learn more.)

Week Four (6/23-6/27) – Wonderful Walks

Wonderful Walks will give us a chance to experience the beauty our great state holds with hiking field trips to Sweetwater State Park (6/24), Stone Mountain (6/25), and Fort Yargo State Park (6/26). Campers will learn how to put together their own first aid kits, pack sack lunches, and read a trail map.

Week Five (6/30-7/2) – Need for Speed

This short week makes up for it with intensity– a Tuesday trip to Andretti Karting in Norcross will give campers a full day of speed, games, and fun. While we are closed on Thursday and Friday in observance of July 4th, the cost remains the same this week so that we can go big instead of going home!

Week Six (7/7-7/11) – Safari Week

An urban safari awaits! A city-wide scavenger hunt will cross from Tuesday to Thursday with trips to Oakland Cemetery, Atlanta SkyView and Centennial Park, the Decatur Cemetery and the Decatur Square. Lunch is provided on Tuesday, we will picnic our own lunches to the Decatur Square on Thursday.

Week Seven (7/14-7/18) – Awesome Atlanta Pt. I

Awesome Atlanta takes advantage of some of the truly wonderful things about this city we live in. Field trips are scheduled to Fernbank Museum (Tue, 7/15), CNN Center (Wed, 7/16), and Zoo Atlanta (Thu, 7/17).

Week Eight (7/21-7/25) – Awesome Atlanta Pt. II

Awesome Atlanta part two packs two big field trips in to one day with the Georgia Aquarium and the World of Coke on Tue, 7/22 and leaves us time to enjoy an afternoon at Piedmont Park on Wednesday and a tour of the fantastic Oakhurst Garden on Thursday.

Week Nine (7/28-8/1) – Six Flags II

A crowd favorite! We’ll be visiting Six Flags for an all day trip on Friday, with daredevils staying until park close at 10p, and shutting down the summer in style! (NOTE: This plan will depend on the park schedule which was not the same in 2013 – we will update as we learn more.)

We will open for after school for City Schools of Decatur on Monday, August 4 and for DeKalb County Schools on Mon, Aug 11. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we will be unable to hold full day camp the week of August 4th to assist our in-school children in transitioning to the school year easier.
