Weekly Letter from the Pastor — May 10, 2017

May 10, 2017

Dear FBCD Family:

Well, summer is just about upon us. The weather is warming, the schools are finishing, and the Braves are losing. All is on schedule.

I hope you have been enjoying our series on the Holy Spirit, one of the most neglected topics in preaching. You will enjoy Shelley Woodruff this weekend as she preaches on The Spirit of Adoption, from Romans 8:14-17. Shelley, one of our own, is an extremely gifted young scholar-minister.

I was happily pleased by the massive FBU crowd for our study of Bonhoeffer last Wednesday. I hope to see as big a crowd this week and in the remainder of the series. People came from all over, many of them with no association with our church. This makes a pastor very happy. And it is fun for you to see me wear my "professor hat" every now and then.

My time away will run from Saturday, May 13, to Saturday, May 20. I will be taking my wife Jeanie and youngest daughter Marie to Paris. Everybody, stay healthy and happy while we are gone, okay? Matt Snyder, now a veteran of my Bonhoeffer class and who will graduate this Saturday from McAfee, will do a great job on Wednesday night May 17.

God bless you all, my friends --
Pastor David
