A Note from Sarah to FBCD
I was born and raised in the Carolinas as a pastor's daughter and from my youngest days, the Church has been a constant, though at times challenging, companion. I have been interested in all kinds of careers, but since a transformative period of spiritual growth during high school, I have been aware of a call to ministry.
I attended Furman University in Greenville, SC, and there made many lifelong friends, including my now-husband Michael. I continued to follow my interest in ministry through a major in Religion, working in local churches, and serving in various roles in a campus ministry. A passion for studying theology led me to complete a Masters of Divinity and a Masters of Theology at Candler School of Theology in Atlanta. During seminary, I was an intern in spiritual formation at First Baptist Church Decatur. I joined FBCD during my internship, and this place became a community I valued for facing tough issues in faith and welcoming our community with open arms. While living in Atlanta, I was also privileged to work as a campus minister at the University of Georgia and a chaplaincy resident at Northside Hospital.
Michael and I moved to Nashville, TN, in June. I am teaching classes in Old Testament at Belmont University and am loving this experience. My ordination is a wonderful gift. I am grateful for your support over these years and for your prayers during this season in my ministry.
