The Media Center is available to both the church and the community for educational and recreational reading, listening, and viewing.

New to the Media Center?

Come in and get acquainted with the collection. You are also invited to sign up, with an initial limit of two items per three-week checkout. Children need a parent’s OK, and are always welcome to enjoy the library and its collection of children’s resources.

Celebration of 75 Years in 2014

In 2014, the Allen Memorial Library/Media Center celebrated 75 years of providing quality reading selections and media resources for church members and the Decatur community.

The Media Center Collection

Periodicals, sermon recordings, books, audiobooks, non-fiction tapes, globes/maps, global artifacts, A/V equipment, movies, puppets, toys, Bibles, books on tape, FBCD history resources, bibliographies, online reference, community computer use, maps, reading programs, ESOL materials. This can be a paragraph or set as a list. 

Books for Sale

We make available for sale books which are donated but do not currently fit in the collection. Come browse the selection of books for sale.

Story Times

Story times for First School are held in the Media Center, and are volunteer led.  Room S-229.  On the second floor, Sanctuary Building. Look for the “Library” banner at the end of the hall.


The Media Center could not function without its volunteer staff. Some have served for decades; some are enthusiastic newcomers. Our volunteers include youngsters to loyal seniors. Volunteer for an hour or two in your Library.

Media Center Facts

  • The Media Center has about 17,000 items!

  • We circulate roughly equal amounts of fiction and non-fiction materials.

  • Book we can’t use in our collection are for sale in the Fiction Room.

  • You may donate books.
