It is a joy and a privilege to share the love of Christ with children at FBC Decatur. At the same time we recognize that most of a child's spiritual development happens not at church, but at home. Therefore we see it as our mission to partner with families in pointing their children toward Christ.
We believe that there is no better way to accomplish the goals of the church than to join with families in the all-important task of leading the next generation into a life-giving, life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.
1) Our Preschool Ministry is Christ-centered.
Jesus Christ—knowing him and becoming more like him—is at the center of all our programs, curricula and decision-making.
2) Our Preschool Ministry is Child-focused.
Before children can learn about Jesus they (and their parents or
guardians) must feel safe and welcome.
3) Our Preschool Ministry is Creative.
We believe that learning about Jesus should be fun and relevant. We use drama, music, videos, games and interactive exercises to involve the children in learning Bible truths.
Welcome to FBC Decatur Nursery
This is where we believe your children begin their faith formation. We understand the importance of a child’s early years, and we support you by planning, learning, and growing experiences for your children each time they are at church. Here is where the Bible Stories, songs, and love for Jesus become part of your child’s life.
- Infants, ones, and twos will be lovingly cared for by our nursery staff during Fresh Start.
- Children ages 3 years to Kindergarten will sit with their parents during Fresh Start for a time of music and praise. Before the message, a volunteer will escort children to Fresh Start Kids for a time of age-appropriate worship.
Basic Procedures (KidCheck)
KidCheck, state of the art computerized check-in software, will assist you in easily checking your child in and out.
- One of our volunteers will guide you through the process of creating an account by following the instructions on-screen.
- On subsequent visits, you will input your phone number to log-in and checkmark the children who are being checked in.
- Click finish, and the label printer will print a sticker with a barcode for both the child and the guardian.
- When you return to check your child out, the stickers will be matched to insure that child is being picked up by their proper guardian.
When it comes to your children, safety is our first priority. KidCheck insures that children are only released to a parent-approved adult.

During KidCheck registration, you will be asked the following:
- Services you will be attending
- Allergies or medical concerns (We provide snacks during Discipleship hour of Animal Crackers, Cheerios, and/or Goldfish. Please do not bring your own snack)
- Potty Training instructions
- Feeding Instructions
All Parents will give a cell number during registration and are asked to place their phone on vibrate when children are registered/checked in.
In the event of an emergency, you will be contacted on your cell.
Parents are always welcome to volunteer.
