Generosity

For those of us who call First Baptist Church Decatur home, we believe that generosity is a part of spiritual formation. While our generosity takes many forms, giving through our local church is the primary way for us to participate with God in mission to Decatur and the world. While it can be awkward to talk about financial generosity we choose to enter into that conversation because Jesus did. More than any other topic, Jesus spoke about money.

While our generosity takes many forms, giving through our local church is the primary way for us to participate with God in mission to Decatur and the world.

Part of that conversation around financial generosity centers around where we choose to place our trust. We believe that financial generosity begins outside the walls of the church with managing the resources we have responsibly so that we are able to be generous. This doesn't mean we don't save for retirement or that we never go on vacation. It does mean we don't trust in our own financial savvy or bank accounts for our ultimate security and provision.

We wholeheartedly believe that God loves a cheerful giver and that by giving a portion of our finances here in our local church we demonstrate our thankfulness to God for his provision in our lives and our belief that He will use our generosity to expand His Kingdom.

Whether you have been a cheerful giver your entire life or you are skeptical about churches that talk about money; we invite you to read more about what financial generosity and giving means to us here at First Baptist Church Decatur.
